Vilafonte Seriously Old Dirt
This Cabernet-led red blend is made in South Africa’s Paarl region, where ancient soils over 750,000 years old produce low-yielding, concentrated fruit. Grapes are picked early for freshness and fermented in stainless steel. The red wine is matured for 18 months in older French oak barrels to preserve fruit purity and structure.
Vilafonte is a joint venture between Mike Ratcliffe, Zelma Long and Dr Phil Freese. Their focus is on Bordeaux-style blends with ageing potential. Seriously Old Dirt is named after the estate’s ancient vilafontes soils and is crafted as a second label to their flagship Series C and Series M wines.
