Marchesi di Barolo Roero Arneis 2022 75cl
Marchesi di Barolo Roero Arneis
Marchesi di Barolo was founded in 1807 by the Marchesi Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia Colbert. The couple had no children, so upon their deaths, they left the winery to the people of Barolo.
Today, the Marchesi di Barolo winery is owned by the Abbona family, who took over the winery in the 1950s. The family has continued to produce outstanding Barolo wines, and they have expanded the vineyard holdings to include vineyards in other parts of the Piedmont region.
Grapes for this Arneis come from the steep hills of the Roero area, where vines are planted on silica-limestone soils that are rich in both quartz sand and fine clay. The wine is pale in colour, with inviting aromas of golden apples, white peach, robina flowers, and wild hazelnuts. It is a particularly crisp, fragrant, and mineral style of white wine.
Pairs well with lighter veal and tuna dishes, vegetarian pasta dishes, rice salads, and marinated white fish.
