Kopke 10 Year Old White Port 37.5cl
Kopke 10 Year Old White Port Half Bottle
Less well known and certainly underrated, white port is the perfect aperitif. This port from Kopke actually has an average ageing length of 15 years. But is in the 10 year old category as there is no 15 year old category.
Why not try this in one of the drinks of the summer - white port and tonic, with plenty of ice and a sprig of mint, very refreshing.
- Cool, light-amber colour, this unique white “tawny” port derives from the traditional white grapes of the Porto e Douro region
- Aromas of a Pear Clafouti and burnt sugar
- Elegant port delivers luscious flavours of Japanese pear-apple, with accents of hazelnut, nutmeg and orange zest
- The lingering grapefruit finish provides the perfect balance for the sweetness
Chill this half bottle of Kopke 10 year old white port before serving, it is an elegant aperitif. Wonderful with rich starters, such as foie gras, vol-au-vent, scallop gratin or mushroom risotto.
Being remarkably fresh despite the age, it is ideal with a crème brulée, a crispy crepe with custard or a spicy apple crumble. Goes perfectly with blue cheese, such as Stilton. Equally delicious on its own. Best served at a temperature between 8 and 10°C.
Its fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, where the grapes macerate and are churned with their skins on, at temperatures between 16-18ºC, to produce a white wine full of colour and structure, able to sustain prolonged ageing in oak.
The fermentation is halted by adding grape brandy, creating the fortified wine.
