Fonseca Tawny Port

Fonseca has been producing Port since the early nineteenth century. Their Tawny Port is made by ageing wines in small oak casks for three years before blending. This time in wood allows the wine to soften and gradually lose the deep ruby colour of youth. It develops instead the warm amber tone known as tawny, while gaining mellowness and aromatic complexity. After blending, the wine is bottled ready to drink, making it an approachable and versatile style.

• The nose is fragrant and inviting, combining aromas of apricot and plum with mellow notes of butterscotch and spice.
• On the palate, the flavours are rich and jammy, centred on ripe stone fruit and red berry tones.
• The texture is smooth and rounded, showing the effect of cask ageing. A fresh, crisp acidity lifts the richness, carrying through to a balanced and satisfying finish.

It is excellent with nut-based desserts, fruit tarts or simply enjoyed on its own slightly chilled.
