Bivrost 8-Year-Old Ex-Aquavit Single Cask Whisky

A landmark release for both Bivrost and Secret Bottle Shop, this 8-Year-Old Single Cask is the first aged-statement and cask strength Whisky released by the Aurora Spirit distillery. Selected in person by Edward and Carl from the Secret Bottle Shop.

Aurora Spirit is the World’s most northerly distillery, located approximately 69 degrees north, below the Lyngen Alps in Northern Norway in an old NATO base. Cask #137 was distilled on 6 June 2018; this exceptionally limited whisky has been double matured for 8 years in Ex-Aquavit and seasoned Oloroso Sherry Casks.

• The nose gives rich sherry-led aromas of dried fruit and toasted oak, with a distinctive herbal lift emerging beneath the subtle sweetness. Subtle notes of aromatic spice and the underlying character of the ex-Aquavit cask add an intriguing Nordic edge, creating a nose that is both familiar and unexpectedly different.
• The palate is rich, full-bodied and intense, with layers of sherry sweetness, dried fruit and oak supported by a gentle warmth of spice. Notes of fig, sultanas and mint. The cask strength delivers considerable intensity while allowing the individual character of this single cask to shine.
• The finish is long, warming and gently spicy, with lingering dried fruit, sherry oak and a subtle herbal character that gradually fades.
