Stajerska is a hilly, predominantly white wine area in north-eastern Slovenia, bordering Austria and Hungary. It is here that Matija Zerjav - known as Matic to his friends - farms nine hectares of old, organic family vineyards and makes wine in a cellar dating back to 1852.
For his Pet Nat - Natural Sparkling Wine - Matic ferments in stainless steel using wild yeasts, before allowing secondary fermentation to naturally occur in bottle
Mea Pet Nat is an especially lively sparkling wine, with notes of golden apple, orange peel, pear, fresh herbs and shortbread. It has beautifully refined acidity and a lasting streak of minerality. This is remarkably clean for a wine that is bottled unfiltered.
