West Midlands Distillery Rowielia Whisky

The second release from West Midlands Distillery, Rowielia is a rich, flavourful expression that marries two carefully selected casks - one peated, one un-peated - creating a lightly peated whisky with depth and character.

Named in tribute to our home in Rowley Regis, “Rowielia” draws from the Anglo-Saxon words “ruh” (rough) and “leah” (clearing or wood), reflecting the area’s historical landscape. The “Regis” addition, dating to the 12th century, signifies its connection to the royal hunting grounds. Inspired by the region’s heritage, Rowielia captures the essence of Rowley Rag stone, local coal, and native woods, celebrating the rich geology and industrial history of the West Midlands.

• Rowielia opens with a delicate wisp of peat smoke, intertwined with warm, honeyed malt and soft vanilla.
• Layers of stone fruit and caramel emerge, echoing the mineral-rich Rowley Rag from the local quarries, while subtle hints of charred oak and coal-fired warmth linger on the finish.
• The mouthfeel is silky yet grounded, offering a perfectly balanced journey between the lightly peated and un-peated casks.

This limited release is bottled at 51.6% ABV with 400 numbered bottles released.
