Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey 2025 Release

This limited-edition American sour mash whiskey honours John Shenk, whose 18th-century Pennsylvania distillery grew into the celebrated Michter’s. It is produced in Kentucky using the classic sour mash process, with a generous helping of rye. The 2025 edition matures in toasted-only French oak from the Vosges region. Those staves are air-dried and seasoned for two years, then toasted to Michter's precise standards. Bottled at 45.6% ABV, it is rich, full-bodied and full of character.

  • The nose leads with warming spices, dried herbs and toasted oak.
  • The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, with creme caramel, soft vanilla and layered oak.
  • The finish is long and warming, with a gentle lingering spice.

Sip it neat or with a drop of water to open it up. It pairs beautifully with roast duck, aged gouda or sticky toffee pudding.
