Oliver's Royal Fortified Cider
A bold and festive take on cider, Royal Fortified Cider is a truly unique creation from Oliver's Cider and Perry. Crafted from a blend of cider apples harvested in 2023, the juice undergoes a spontaneous wild fermentation before a portion is distilled in a column still by master distiller Shaun Ward at Ludlow Distillery.
The distilled spirit is carefully reintegrated into the remaining cider and matured for 12 months in rum barrels, producing a deep burnished red-brown liquid with the richness of a fine off-dry sherry, yet distinctly apple.
- Ripe apple, orchard floor, and hints of autumnal spices on the nose.
- Rich, full-bodied palate reminiscent of off-dry sherry or port, but with clear apple character.
- Long, warming finish with notes of time, barrel, and subtle sweetness.
Enjoy on its own as a festive digestif, or pair with Christmas puddings, nutty desserts, or mature cheeses for a seasonal finale.
