Michter’s is one of the oldest names in American whiskey, based in Louisville, Kentucky. This small-batch bottling is matured in used bourbon-soaked barrels rather than new charred oak. That single choice is why it is labelled as an American whiskey rather than bourbon. It is also unblended, meaning it holds pure whiskey with no added grain neutral spirits. The result is a softer, rounder style than most bourbon or rye, bottled at 41.7%.
- The nose leads with butterscotch and buttery corn, lifted by ripe fruit and a little caraway.
- The palate is creamy and rich, with golden syrup, sultanas and a gentle warming spice.
