The Macallan Time Space Sherry Cask Whisky

Space Sherry Cask represents the third chapter in The Macallan TIME : SPACE Collection. Matured for 20 years, it is the first whisky from The Macallan to be influenced by sherry casks seasoned with the distillery's own Valdespino sherry since Valdespino came under The Macallan's ownership.

The release celebrates the longstanding relationship between Scotch whisky and sherry, connecting The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland, with Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, the home of sherry wine.

Its maturation introduces a second chapter of sherry cask influence. After its initial maturation in sherry seasoned oak casks at The Macallan Estate, the whisky underwent a further marrying period in a selection of the first 200 sherry casks seasoned in The Macallan's Valdespino bodega.

These casks arrived at The Macallan in 2024 as part of its 200th anniversary celebrations. Crafted in the distillery's cooperages and seasoned in Jerez, they represent an important part of the relationship between The Macallan and Valdespino.

• Sherry-soaked raisins, figs and Medjool dates lead the aromas, accompanied by sweet frangipane, cinder toffee and hints of caramelised nuts. Dark chocolate truffles add richness, while cinnamon, star anise and ginger bring depth and spice.
• Opulent and complex, with dried fruits including sultanas, dates and apricots alongside rich ginger cake. Treacle toffee, bramble jam and chocolate coated cherries add layers of sweetness and fruit. Cloves and cinnamon sticks introduce warming spice, followed by cocoa nibs and layers of polished oak.
• Warming wood spices and a hint of espresso, with waves of gentle oak.

Bottled at 44.8% with an impressive circular interior design mirrors the shape of the grapes, while the warm yellow colour recalls the Andalusian sun filtering through ripening fruit. Together, the vessel and presentation box connect the whisky with the origins of the sherry used in its maturation.
