Les Volets Malbec

A Malbec from the rugged terroir of Haute Vallee de l’Aude in south-France, grown on higher-altitude vineyards in Pays Cathare between Carcassonne and Limoux. The wine is made by Boutinot under the Les Volets label and is crafted with minimal oak influence to let the pure fruit character and regional soil show through.

Les Volets originates from vineyards with argilo-calcaire subsoils, warm Mediterranean sunshine tempered by cooler nights in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The producer lets altitude, climate and soil do much of the heavy lifting so that this Malbec delivers intensity, elegance and vibrancy rather than over-ripeness or heaviness.

• The wine shows crushed blueberries which then develop into a bitter-sweet character of creme de cassis with a touch of parma violets.
• It fills the palate with fine red fruits, especially cranberries, and a hint of cocoa nibs on the lifted finish.
• Vibrant ruby colour with a lifted, clean structure.

Pairs very well with steak, grilled meats and earthy vegetarian dishes.
