Lagavulin 8 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
This single malt was released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin Distillery by John Johnston in 1816. This eight-year-old is big and smoky, with sweet spice that becomes apparent with a drop of water.
- Nose of salted popcorn, honey-roasted nuts, smoky tar, and subtle notes of freshly cut cedar. A lingering hint of burnt sugar adds a touch of sweetness.
- Palate of bold smoky peat leads the way. Followed by coriander seed, barley sugar, cumin, smoked kipper, and a hint of marzipan.
- Lagavulin 8 Year Old Islay Scotch Whisky has a finish of layers of apple crumble, toasted almonds, and ash, with a final burst of warming spices.
Inspired by the visit of Alfred Barnard to the distillery in the 1880s when he tried an 'exceptionally fine' eight-year-old whisky from the distillery. This is a fitting tribute for the milestone.
