Hambledon Classic Cuvee English Sparkling Wine
This English fizz has notes of fresh sourdough, magnolia and lily scents mingle with a hint of smoke over a core of greengage, red plums and dessert apples. The Palate is vivid, almost vibrantly crunchy with precise, structured yet ripe acidity. It is linear, dense and long with momentum and power that bodes well for the future.
Hambledon has been established since 1952 and their wines are produced in the England's oldest commercial vineyard. In 1999, the current managing director acquired the vineyard with a view to restoring it to its former glory. The vineyards are planted on upper cretaceous belemite chalk, famous for Sparkling Wine production.
Today Hambledon comprises over 200 acres spread over numerous vineyard sites. Each vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – the three grape varieties most commonly used in the production of Champagne.
