Glenfarclas 1959 60 Year Old Whisky Single Cask

This exceptional release from Glenfarclas is a single cask, number 1820, distilled on 2nd June 1959 and matured until 8th November 2019. After 60 years of quiet slumber in a sherry hogshead, this Whisky is now housed in a bespoke hand blown Glencairn Crystal decanter with hand drawn illustrations of Glenfarclas' iconic warehouse doors. The presentation box has been designed and crafted by Neil Stevenson, cabinet-maker to the Queen.

Only 105 of these bottles were produced.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Christmas cask steeped in Glenfarclas, spice, orange and dark chocolate.

Palate: Christmas flavours continue on the palate; Christmas pudding drenched in brandy butter and set alight. A silky-smooth dram with rich, dark spice in the mouth.

Finish: A wonderful complex dram that oozes flavours of marzipan and Christmas sherry. A traditional, old-style Glenfarclas.

Family owned steeped in tradition

In 1865, Glenfarclas distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside, was purchased by a cattle breeder by the name of John Grant. Today, the Glenfarclas spirit still lives strong and continues in family ownership under the direction of 5th generation owner, John Grant.

Glenfarclas means ‘Valley of the Green Grassland’ and the spring water, which ensures the verdant green grass, is essential to the distinct flavour of Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Whisky. It bubbles up, crystal clear, from the underlying granite on the slopes of the Speyside mountain, Ben Rinnes, to supply the distillery below.

There it is combined with the finest malted barley, twice distilled in traditional, direct fired, copper pot stills and only the lightest and best fractions of alcohol are collected to be filled into the finest Spanish Sherry oak casks and lie maturing over many years.

Times may have changed, but it’s what has stayed the same that makes Glenfarclas unique: the six generations of Grant family pride and the revered quality of their famous Single Malt Whisky.
