Chateau Nenin Pomerol 2016 75cl
Chateau Nenin Pomerol 2016
Chateau Nenin was bought by the Delon family in 1997, owners of the 2nd growth Saint-Julien Chateau Leoville-Las-Cases. They quickly set to work by building new cellars and replanting many of the 34 hectares of vineyard and the quality has been on an upward trajectory ever since.
The vineyard plantings are a mix of merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. Most of which are surrounded by the vineyards of Chateau Trotanoy, with a small plot near Le Pin.
This is certainly a weightier, more structured style of Pomerol, but it is far more mellow than it used to be, with a new-found elegance thanks to some massal selection of cabernet franc vines from Chateau Leoville-Las-Cases. The use of new oak is limited so as to let the aromatic quality of cabernet franc shine through.
- The wine is dominated by red and black raspberries, currants and cherries
- The tannins are still firm but there is a balance between the fruit and the wood
- Drink this vintage now
Pairs well with braised meats, truffle dishes and mature, hard cheeses.
