This exceptional liqueur originates from the Carthusian monastery in France, crafted as a recreation of a historic “Elixir of Life” recipe. First presented in 1605 by Francois Hannibal d’Estrees, the original formula took over a century for the monks to perfect, with production starting in 1737.
Bottled at 56% ABV, slightly lower than the original, and showcases over 130 herbs and spices. The result is a sophisticated, balanced spirit with remarkable aromatic complexity and a fresh, vibrant character.
- Chartreuse 1605 Liqueur D'Elixir has a herbaceous nose with subtle sweetness, reminiscent of the Yellow Chartreuse
- Palate explodes with basil, dill, aniseed, ginger, tarragon, eucalyptus, and caraway. Complex layers combine into a rich, aromatic “liquid herb garden”
- Long finish with minty freshness and elegant balance
