This Pinot Noir is grown in Monthelie, a small Burgundy village with vineyard history dating back to the 9th century. Bouchard Pere et Fils, founded in 1731, owns 5.94 hectares here spread across east, south and west-facing slopes. Their maturation famously takes place in the historic cellars of the Château de Beaune.
Grapes are harvested by hand and sorted manually before fermentation in small vats. The wine is then matured for 10-12 months in French oak barrels, with 20 to 30 percent new oak. Clay-rich soils and varied exposures contribute to the wine’s balance.
