First released in 1960, Penfolds Bin 2 was created as an ‘Australian Burgundy’ style red, blending Rhone varieties with a softer, medium-bodied profile. The winemakers at Penfolds Estate revived this blend to showcase the complementary nature of Shiraz and Mataro, a grape introduced to Australia in the 1830s and prized for its complexity and grip.
Crafted from grapes grown in Southern Australia, this full-bodied red is matured in a mix of French and American oak, then rested in bottle to develop its layered character. It’s a bold yet balanced wine, ideal for pairing with rich, tomato-based dishes.
- Aromas of blueberry, cranberry, red fruit and pomegranate with hints of spice and cured meat.
- Juicy blue and black fruits on the palate, with textured tannins and subtle oak integration.
