Emil Bauer & Sohne is run by the fifth generation of the Bauer family, brothers Alexander and Martin. They are determined to show German wines in a new and irreverent light. Adopting unconventional names for their wines to capture attention and challenge preconceptions. Aside from the fun, eye-catching labels though, they make brilliant wines that reflect the true character of the rolling hills of the Pfalz wine region.

Grauburgunder is the German name for pinot gris, or pinot grigio, but made in a very different, distinctly Pfalz style. Part fermenting tis Grauburgunder in stainless steel to retain plenty of fruit and freshness, and partly in German oak barrels to bring some body and roundness to the wine.

• Aromas of ripe stone fruit, melon and honey, with hints of fresh nuts
• On the palate, expect further flavours of ripe pineapple, dried fruits, fruitcake and almonds
• A full-bodied white wine balanced by refreshing acidity
