Alves De Sousa Abandonado 2019 75cl
Alves De Sousa Abandonado
This full-bodied port red wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley is a field blend made from over 20 indigenous grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela and Sousao. Sourced from an 80-year-old vineyard known as “Vinha do Abandonado,” it’s complex, earthy and built for ageing. Aged in French and Portuguese oak, it shows remarkable depth and structure.
Alves de Sousa is a family-run estate led by Domingos and Tiago Alves de Sousa. The Abandonado vineyard sits on steep schist slopes with extreme exposure, where only the oldest vines survive. First bottled in 2004, this fortified wines honours the resilience of these vines and the Douro’s winemaking heritage.
- Aromas of eucalyptus, black fruit, coffee and tar.
- Dense palate with liquorice, balsamic notes and fine tannins.
- Alves de Sousa Abandonado finishes long, smoky and mineral.
Pairs well with roast beef, game and rich meat pies.
