Octomore 16.1 is a single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich. It was distilled in 2019 on Islay using 100 % Scottish Mainland Concerto barley malted to 101.4 PPM.
Maturing exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels for five years. Then bottling at cask strength (59.3 % ABV), without chill-filtration or added colouring. Bruichladdich has a long reputation for pushing boundaries in peat level and barley provenance. This release continues that tradition through high smoke, purity of barley flavour and clarity of maturation.
- The nose offers salted caramel, honeyed melon and apricot. Followed by chocolate and coconut with undertones of soft earthy minerality in the Octomore 16.1.
- On the palate the smoke is prominent yet balanced, with fruit-rich malt sweetness against savoury earth and waves of gentle peat.
- The finish lingers with smoky embers, mineral depth and a lasting interplay of sweetness and peat smoke.
Serve this whisky neat or with a drop of water to open up flavours; it pairs beautifully with smoked meats, dark chocolate or strong blue cheese.
