Eagle Rare 10 Year Old Bourbon
Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky produces this straight bourbon, long regarded as one of the best value aged bottlings around. Whiskey has been made on this riverside site since the late 18th century, making it the oldest continuously operating distillery in America.
The spirit spends a full ten years in new charred American oak, well beyond the four year legal minimum. Limestone-filtered water and a low rye recipe of corn, rye and malted barley shape the softer, sweeter house style. Barrels are hand-selected at maturity and bottled at 45% ABV.
- Vanilla, caramel and toasted oak on the nose, with a lift of orange peel.
- The palate brings toffee, honey and cocoa, followed by cinnamon and nutmeg spice.
- Long and smooth on the finish, drying out into leather, tobacco and gentle oak.
Serve neat or over one large ice cube, and it makes an excellent Old Fashioned. Pair with a chargrilled ribeye, sticky barbecue ribs or a rich sticky toffee pudding.
