Laphroaig 34 Year Old Ian Hunter Book 4 Whisky

The fourth release of the Ian Hunter Series is to honour the life and times of one of the distillery’s greatest distillers. The last of the Johnston family to own and manage the Laphroaig distillery.

Set into a beautifully crafted book that will document a part of Ian’s rich legacy. Every year a new chapter will be told. Uncovering the extensive history behind Laphroaig and the characters who created it, making this a collection unlike any other.

This fourth instalment tells the tale of Ian Hunter’s establishment of Laphroaig’s malting floors, the same ones used at the distillery today. It also features a 34-year-old non-chill filtered whisky, matured in Ex-Bourbon and first fill European Oak Oloroso Sherry casks, offering a unique peated single malt whisky in this fourth book.

• Tawny, polished mahogany in colour
• The nose is smoky with rich dried fruit
• Notes of leaf tobacco, Eucalyptus, fresh straw, and sweet notes of golden syrup, cinder toffee, heather honey and crushed black pepper
• The palette is peaty and sweet, barbecued pork with sweet honey marinade
• Together with notes of peach and orange blossom, a touch of iodine and earthy floral notes
• The finish is ashy with wood smoke lingering

To get the most out of the whisky the right glassware is essential. To see the colour, breathe the aroma, dive into the complex layers of flavour, and fully taste the long finish. A tulip-shaped snifter glass of uncut lead crystal is ideal.

Fill the glass with Laphroaig 34 year old Ian Hunter book 4 at room temperature. If you’re going to dilute the liquid with water, they recommend soft Scottish water. But really any good - cool but un-chilled - water will do.

Give your glass a light swirl, a quick nose, and then sip. Allowing the single malt to make its way to every corner of your mouth, and then swallow. Now you’re ready to taste.
