Bunnahabhain Abhainn Araig Feis Ile Whisky 2022

The Islay Festival known locally as Feis Ile, is a chance for fans of the island’s whisky to come together and rejoice in its brilliance. But don’t worry if you did not make make Feis Ile 2022, because there were lots of limited-edition whisky releases.

And this is one of our favourites from this year’s out turn. Abhainn Araig means ‘Araig River’ and is a celebration of one of the rivers that feeds into the Margadale River. This is the pure spring water source for Bunnahabhain whisky.

Bunnahabhain Abhainn Araig Feis Ile whisky 2022 is a marriage of spirit matured in ex-bourbon casks and ex-pedro ximenez sherry octave casks. The latter are smaller barrels about an eighth the size of a standard sherry butt. But they add immense concentration.

• Bottling at a warming 50.8%
• Single malt of natural colour
• Expect crystallised ginger, chocolate-covered raisins, cigar box, leather, honey-roasted nuts, treacle toffee, cinnamon and balsamic
• Something reminiscing of Kellogg’s Special K Raspberry breakfast cereal with creamy milk
