POL ROGER CHAMPAGNE
"I cannot live without Champagne. In victory, I deserve it. In defeat, I need it."
Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Champagne 2013
Sir Winston Churchill became one of Pol Roger’s most devoted admirers after a lunch at the British Embassy in Paris on November 12, 1945.
The event, held shortly after the Conservatives lost office, introduced Churchill to Odette Pol-Roger over a bottle of Pol Roger 1928, sparking a friendship that lasted for the rest of his life. His fondness for the Champagne was legendary - he famously drank it in pint-sized servings from a tankard.
In tribute to this connection, Pol Roger created the prestigious Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill in 1984, a rich and full-bodied Champagne reflecting his preference for bold, structured vintages.
Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2013 Champagne Magnum is ideal for grand gatherings and cellar ageing. This magnum pairs superbly with lobster thermidor, duck à l’orange, or wild mushroom risotto. Its complexity also complements mature cheeses like aged Comté or truffle brie. A timeless choice for luxurious celebrations or gifting.

"I cannot live without Champagne. In victory, I deserve it. In defeat, I need it."
Perhaps its most famous admirer was Sir Winston Churchill, who developed a lifelong devotion to Pol Roger following a lunch in the British Embassy in Paris on 12 November 1945 – shortly after the Conservatives were voted out of office – where Churchill met Odette Pol Roger, and at which Pol Roger 1928 was served. His connection with the house was so strong that he drank it in pint-sized servings from a tankard and maintained a close friendship with Odette Pol-Roger. To honour this legacy, the house created the prestigious Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill in 1984, a rich and full-bodied Champagne inspired by his love of robust vintages.
Churchill himself once declared, "I cannot live without Champagne. In victory, I deserve it. In defeat, I need it."
