Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin is produced by Black Forest Distillers in Germany’s Black Forest. The brand was inspired by a British commander who settled in the region after World War II and created a gin using local botanicals and exotic spices. His original recipe laid the foundation for what would become one of the world’s most celebrated gins.
The gin is distilled in small batches using a molasses-based spirit and an extraordinary blend of 47 botanicals. These include lingonberries, spruce shoots, cranberries, sage, acacia, and citrus peels. Each botanical is carefully selected and distilled to preserve its character, resulting in a spirit that reflects the forested terroir and meticulous German craftsmanship.
