Louis Pommery Brut English Sparkling

Louis Pommery Brut is the first English sparkling wine produced by a Champagne house, a landmark cuvee that brings the savoir-faire of Maison Pommery to the chalk hills of Hampshire. It is grown on selected plots of the Pinglestone Estate, a singular 40-hectare site blessed with gentle slopes, its own microclimate and the very same chalk bed that lies beneath Champagne.

Overseen by Pommery Chef de Cave Clement Pierlot, the wine unites Champenois expertise with a true expression of English terroir. Made by the traditional method from a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, majority Chardonnay for refined elegance, with the two Pinots lending generous fruit. Aged for a minimum of three years on the lees. England's cool climate brings sharpness and definition, while that extended ageing builds layers of complexity and a fine, persistent mousse.

• The nose opens fresh and fine, led by citrus and Cox apple, then unfolds into blackcurrant, white fruit and a hint of honey.
• On the palate those notes are amplified with citrus and honey to the front, carried by refreshing pear and white peach.
• Toast and honeycomb softening and lengthening the finish. Elegant, precise and beautifully balanced.

A wonderful aperitif, and a natural partner for oysters and fresh seafood and the British classic, fish and chips.
