Chateau Ramon Monbazillac 2017 75cl

£15.95

Monbazillac is an AOC appellation for sweet wines made in an area in the wider region of Bergerac, in southwestern France. The vineyard area lies on the southern bank of the Dordogne river as it flows toward Bordeaux, surrounding the town of Monbazillac itself. Monbazillac wines are some of the most well-known sweet white wines produced in France, from Botrytis-affected Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

Chateau Ramon is family run and spreads along the clay and limestone soils of the southern hillsides of the Dordogne Valley. This wine is made using grapes that have shrivelled due to botrytis which concentrates the sugars. The resulting wine is sweet and golden with notes of candied orange, honey, saffron, mango and apricots with a zesty, elegant finish.

This is perfect when served as an aperitif with foie gras or roquefort cheese or as an after dinner dessert wine.
