Dark Rum

Dark rum is dark because of its higher molasses content and the fact they are matured in heavily charred-oak barrels. Most having a sweeter taste and often added with flavourings of spices, caramel and vanilla. Many of these are referred to as Navy rums since British sailors were issued a 'daily tot' during their 17th century voyages throughout the world. Particularly in and around the Caribbean.
