Wynns Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay 2022 75cl
Wynns Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay
Since planting the first vineyards by visionary Scottish pioneer John Riddoch in 1891, Wynns Coonawarra Estate has built a reputation as the Coonawarra region’s pre-eminent wine producer.
Named after an Aboriginal word meaning 'honeysuckle'. Coonawarra is an isolated region renowned for its geological and climatic features which create fruit of the highest quality.
Coonawarra's fame hails from a natural soil phenomenon called the terra rossa. A low, cigar-shaped ridge of soil stretching 20 kilometres long and up to two kilometres wide.
Meaning 'red earth', terra rossa topsoil is rich and free draining but it is also thin. Five centimetres to 100 centimetres deep. It is one of the best soils in Australia for growing vines, and ideal for creating small, well-coloured berries which develop in optimal sunlight.
- The long ripening season from Coonawarra’s cool southerly climate produces chardonnay with excellent varietal character
- Poached pear and stone fruit characters balance the soft natural acidity
- Underlying complex barrel ferment characters such as praline and cashew nut present an elegant, beautifully balanced chardonnay
- Wynns Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay pairs well with roast chicken, fish pie, or a butternut squash lasagna
