Selection Of Vegan Friendly Wines To Try This Veganuary

Veganuary is here and we’ve collated a selection of vegan friendly wines from our portfolio to allow you to keep enjoying a glass alongside your delicious vegan dishes.

Ceretto Moscato d’Asti

A joint venture between the Ceretto family and Vignaioli di Santo Stefano, this Moscato d’Asti gets its characteristic effervescence through a second, temperature-controlled fermentation in tank, which is stopped when the wine reaches 5% alcohol. The Moscato Bianco grapes used for this wine are all harvested by hand from the Santo Stefano Belbo, Canelli, and Calosso areas. It is vinified exclusively in steel tanks.

As an aperitif this is perfect paired with Piedmont’s famed roasted Hazelnuts or why not try with some Lebanese options or other fragrant spicy foods.

Hambledon Classic Cuvée

Established in 1952 by Major General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon in the South Downs is England’s oldest commercial vineyard. Ian Kellett acquired Hambledon in 1999 with a view to restoring Hambledon to its former glory, and research convinced him that the site was perfectly suited to the production of sparkling wines.

Try pairing with an appetiser such as crispy udon noodles with seaweed salt, tempura courgette or even vegan sushi dragon rolls.

“Hampshire’s Hambledon is one of the stars, its Classic Cuvée a tingling, Cox’s apple-tangy, subtly toasty delight.” David Williams, The Observer, July 2021.

Geno Branco 2020

From our newest addition to the portfolio, Cartuxa, this delicious wine celebrates the native grape varieties of Antão Vaz, Arinto and Roupeiro. From the Vinho Regional of Alentejano, Portugal, Geno is a new brand, unique to the UK. The label is inspired by the work of the late António Palolo, a brilliant artist from the Évora region, creating a striking and eye-catching bottle (and outer case) presentation.

Give this a go with some vegan samosas.

“This is a glorious slice of Alentejo sunshine and stunning local flair. Juicy, ripe and mildly exotic, it also has crisp acidity and masses of charm.” Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail, Nov 2021.

Taylor’s Late Bottled Vintage

The perfect winter warmer to get you through the dark days of January. This classic style of Port is ready to drink with no need to decant and can be stored open for up to two months although I doubt the bottle will last that long!

Pair with vegan choc chip cookies or vegan dark chocolate. Alternatively, you can get some excellent cashew-based Stilton style or almond based Roquefort style cheeses.
