Marchesi di Barolo Cannubi Barolo 2018 75cl
Marchesi di Barolo Cannubi Barolo
Founded in 1807 by Marchesi Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and Giulia Colbert, Marchesi di Barolo's legacy was passed on to the Barolo community after the couple, without children, bequeathed the winery upon their demise.
Today, under the ownership of the Abbona family since the 1950s, the Marchesi di Barolo winery not only maintains its historical roots but also expands its vineyard presence throughout the Piedmont region, continuing to produce outstanding Barolo wines.
Cannubi, one of the distinguished Cru Storici vineyards, stands out within the Barolo municipality. This elevated hill features Serravallian and Tortonian soils, with bluish-grey marl rich in magnesium and manganese carbonates. The surface, displaying a whitish-gray hue, combines clay with fine sands and limestone. Shielded by surrounding hills, Cannubi enjoys a distinct microclimate, protected from adverse weather and excessive airflow.
The wine derived from Cannubi presents a ruby colour with garnet undertones, offering an intense aroma of roses, vanilla, and roasted nuts, with a subtle touch of anise.
This Barolo expression is robust and well-structured. Ideal pairings for this wine include butter and sage pasta, sausage ravioli, lamb cutlets, game, and an assortment of cheeses.
