Loimer Kamptal Biodynamic Gruner Veltliner
This white wine has aromas of herbs, fresh apple, and peppery notes. Racy and crisp on the palate, yet beautifully balanced. The herbal character is typical of Gruner Veltliner grape.
The wine is perfectly paired with slightly spicy Asian dishes, such as dim sum, stir fries and mild Thai curries, or with Vietnamese food, particularly summer rolls and noodle salads. Great with fish and chips or even fried chicken.
Fred Loimer owns 198 acres around Langenlois, in the sunny Kamptal region of Lower Austria. Unlike many Austrian producers who go for an overly sweet style, Fred gets full ripeness in the vineyard yet ferments to dryness, producing wines with lovely definition, zest and balance on the palate.
Situated 200 to 400 metres above sea level, the climate of the Kamp Valley is characterised by cool nights and warm days, with a long, sunny autumn. The long growing season and the difference in temperature between night and day gives the grapes a chance to reach full ripeness and develop fine perfumes and flavours.
