Domaine Genot-Boulanger Pommard Vieilles Vignes 2020 75cl
Domaine Genot-Boulanger Pommard Vieilles Vignes
Domaine Genot-Boulanger consistently produce excellent red and white Burgundy at a fair price relative to others.
- A fully destemmed cuvee, this is high-toned and really quite floral on the nose, with fine red fruit aromas picked out in great detail.
- A lovely translucency pervades this the palate, but being Pommard, it’s not short of depth and power too.
Pair Domaine Genot-Boulanger Pommard Vieilles Vignes with lighter game dishes and casseroles and French onion soup.
Two Parisian pharmacists, Charles-Henri Genot and Marie Boulanger, moved to Meursault and purchased vineyards in Mercurey in 1974. His son and daughter, the 4th generation, now run the Domaine.Viticulture and soil health are priority number one, and together they obtained organic certification by 2018, just 10 years after taking the helm.
Winemaking is non-interventionist, with part whole-bunch fermentation, depending on the vintage, indigenous yeasts and very gentle extraction techniques. Wines mature in 20% new oak for 12 months in barrel and a further 6 months in tank.
