A 20cl gift boxed bottle of Caol Ila 12yo, perfect for winter walks or during wet days on the coast.
Caol Ila is one of the Classic malts of Scotland, considered to be one of the lighter of the Islays. This 12 year old is smooth and light to medium bodied with a rounded flavour. It starts out quite sweet and becomes smoky and slightly salty whilst remaining pleasant and balanced. It has a smoky finish.
Markedly lighter and more subtle than the other Islay malts and aged in bourbon casks, this is a refreshing dram with a peaty nose, with distinct floral notes, pepper, wild flowers, hickory, malt, dried mint, cut grass, a wisp of sweetness and an oily quality. It is described as tasting slighty of seaweed/iodine, lightly medicinal, smoky, salty, sweet with a dry peppery finish.
