Reyneke Chenin Blanc
Reyneke use traditional techniques in the vineyard and winery and are certified Biodynamic. Employing natural pest management techniques in the vineyard, like allowing ducks to roam free and eat the snails, and planting dandelion weeds between the vines to distract mealybugs from eating the vine roots. In the winery, their approach is very much non-interventionist, using indigenous yeasts and allowing spontaneous fermentations.
Reyneke Chenin Blanc is whole bunch pressed, fermented in a mix of old oak vessels, and allowed to rest for 10 months on the lees prior to bottling. The wine has beautiful aromas of lemon, orange blossom and pear with just a hint of yellow apple and stone fruit coming through on the nose. The palate is layered with a fresh and vibrant acidity. This wine has an incredible depth to it and is complex with a lingering finish.
