Domaine Roquemale Lema
Domaine Roquemale was founded by Dominique and Valerie Ibanez in 2001. They make stunning, Rhone style wines from organic vines in the Gres de Montpellier AOC of the Languedoc. Planting their vines on soils that are a mix of clay and limestone, with lots of red in the soil from bauxite ore.
Roquemale translates as poor soil, which results in grapes of greater concentration. However, the cooling winds help to refresh the vines at night and help retain acidity and perfume in the grapes. Harvesting the grapes at night to retain optimal freshness.
