Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky

In 1968 George S Grant decided to cask Glenfarclas at natural strength as a Christmas gift for family and friends. The strength of that single cask was 105 British proof - so Glenfarclas 105 was born. The distillery still select some of the finest casks from their warehouses and vat them together - without adding water - to give a constant strength of 60%.

And today, Glenfarclas 105, the world's first commercially available cask strength Whisky, is just as smooth as ever. Glenfarclas 105 is dry and assertive, with a rich spiciness that combines with hints of oak and sherried fruit to create a perfect warming dram. In short, all the great flavours of Glenfarclas in one glass.

Family owned steeped in tradition

In 1865, Glenfarclas distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside, was purchased by a cattle breeder by the name of John Grant. Today, the Glenfarclas spirit still lives strong and continues in family ownership under the direction of 5th generation owner, John Grant.

Glenfarclas means ‘Valley of the Green Grassland’ and the spring water, which ensures the verdant green grass, is essential to the distinct flavour of Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Whisky. It bubbles up, crystal clear, from the underlying granite on the slopes of the Speyside mountain, Ben Rinnes, to supply the distillery below.

There it is combined with the finest malted barley, twice distilled in traditional, direct fired, copper pot stills and only the lightest and best fractions of alcohol are collected to be filled into the finest Spanish Sherry oak casks and lie maturing over many years.

Times may have changed, but it’s what has stayed the same that makes Glenfarclas unique: the six generations of Grant family pride and the revered quality of their famous Single Malt Whisky.
