Marchesi di Barolo Sarmassa Barolo, 

Sarmassa is one of the Cru Storici vineyards of Marchesi di Barolo, one of the very best vineyards within the municipality of Barolo. This steep south-eastern facing slope has soils composed primarily of clay and limestone, with particularly stony topsoil. The significant quantity of stones, combined with clay, limits the growth of the Nebbiolo grape and prepares the vines to react quickly to climatic variations, enabling clusters to ripen perfectly.

This wine is has a deep ruby colour with garnet tinges. It has an intense aroma of wild roses, liquorice, cinammon and nutmeg, with a touch of pine resin. This is a richer, fuller style of Barolo, but with delicate tannins.

Pairs well with butter and sage pasta, stuffed pasta like Agnolotti, roast lamb, braised red meats, game, and various types of cheese.
