Jean Foillard Morgon 2021 75cl
Jean Foillard Morgon, Beaujolais, France
As one of the original Gang of Four Vignerons, along with Marcel Lapierre, Guy Breton and Jean Paul Thevenet, Jean Foillard is credited with launching the French natural winemaking movement in Beaujolais in the 1980s. The Gang of Four, as dubbed by US importer Kermit Lynch, were the first to adopt the techniques and principles of oenologist Jules Chauvet for producing Gamay on granite without sulphur.
The Morgon Cuvee Classique is ruby red with inviting red and black fruit aroma, and a faint earthiness. The palate is dominated by sour cherry, black plum, and dried flowers, with great depth and a lengthy finish. This is a lighter style of wine that nevertheless offers wonderful complexity and depth
