PURITY IS A RARE THING..

Discover Fettercairn Whisky

Since 1824 Fettercairn distillery has been crafting extraordinary Highland Single Malts which capture the character and heritage of its surroundings. Sir Alexander Ramsay – Fettercairns found - was one of the Scottish landowners who campaigned to license Scotch Whisky distillation and was one of the first to apply for a license making Fettercairn one of the oldest (legal) distilleries.

In the mid-1950s, the whisky makers at Fettercairn experimented, seeking ways to create a purer expression of their spirit. They found that pouring water down the still cooled the copper, increasing condensation inside so only the lightest vapours could rise for collection. They fashioned a copper tube around the top of the still to continually douse it with water - an ingenious and practical solution which remains unique in Scotch whisky-making to this day.

Having a close connection to their surroundings Fettercairn is on a mission to make the distillery as sustainable as possible and ensuring their craft and heritage can continue for 100 years to come. Fettercairn are pledging 13,000 oak saplings on the land next to the distillery and have enlisted the help of landscape artist Rob Mulholland to create a piece of art to commemorate this pledge. Robs’ ‘Forest Flow’ creation can be seen today on the land soon to be covered with forest.
