Since 1975, Chateau Pontet-Canet has been owned by the Tesseron family of Cognac fame. Since then, the style has returned to what has made Pauillac so populkar - muscular, blackcurrant driven wines. Chateau Pontet-Canet is very much on the rise, and became the firsst Classed Growth to be certified for both organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2006 is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It has a very pronounced nose of intense blackcurrant, blueberry and violet, and a stony minerality. Now entering its ideal drinking window, notes of cedar, dried orange peel and white pepper are also beginning to emerge.
Ready to drink now, but will age gracefully for another ten years.
