Established in 1881, the distillery bears the Gaelic name Bunnahabhain (Bu-na-ha-venn), signifying 'mouth of the river.' This name pays homage to the Margadale, the river that provides the distillery with its crystal-clear spring waters for the whisky distillation process.

Remarkably rich and complex, Bunnahabhain Islay single malt Scotch whisky expresses the remote coastal location off the Sound of Islay. The core Bunnahabhain range predominantly matures in ex-sherry casks. These whiskies are unpeated, preserve their natural colour, and do not undergo any chill filtration.
