At least according to the earliest archeological evidence dating back to around 6000BC, Georgia is the true home of wine. Indigenous grapes like Saperavi and Rkatsiteli are quickly garnering international attention.
The history of Tbilvino dates back to 1962. The largest winery was opened in Georgia, which soon acquired a significant place on the market and gained international recognition.
Since 1999, the winery has been led by the Margvelashvili brothers, who introduced a more modern philosophy of wine production. Today, Tbilvino proudly holds a host of awards from the likes of Decanter, IWSC, IWC and many more.
Tbilvino Qvevris Rkatsiteli is an orange wine produced using ancient Georgian wine-making technology, whereby grape juice and skins are fully fermented and macerated altogether in “Qvevri” (clay vessels buried in the ground).
The wine is amber in color, has a well-balanced tannin structure and offers rich, yet fresh, aromas and flavoursof apricot, pear and almond. Due to the specific production technology, a small amount of sediment may be produced in the bottle.
A great match for veal, Meditteranean lamb dishes, or a fish stew.
