Nachbil Grunspitz 2018 75cl 12% ABV
Nachbil Grunspitz, Romania
The White Wine has notes of rose petal and bitter Seville orange, and compelling minerality. The same flavours follow through on the palate with a leesy texture and lingering finish.
A great companion for marinated poultry dishes and stews or a lamb and apricot tagine.
Unusual grape varieties? Check! Organic? Check! Natural? Check! Nice packaging? Checkety-check-check!
Nachbil is located in Beltiug in the North-Western Transylvania region of Romania where they organically farm 23 ha of vineyard in excellent climactic conditions.
Since 2010, the vines have been tended without herbicide, pesticide and mineral fertilizers, and this minimal intervention approach is continued in the winery where they avoid additives such as cultured yeast and enzymes or other technical interventions. The only ingredient used in wine production at Nachbil is grapes.
The Grunspitz (a native grape to the area) is handpicked, fermented in open-top stainless steel with wild yeast, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. As little as 300 bottles were produced in 2017.
