Long recognised for producing premium wines, Meerlust Estate has been the pride of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, the dedication to the art of winemaking continues under the guidance of Hannes Myburgh 8th generation custodian of this 17th Century national monument.

Meerlust were the pioneers of Bordeaux varietals in the Cape, famed for their Bordeaux blend Rubicon which they released in 1980.

Meerlust Cabernet Sauvignon is made up from two distinct areas on the farm, with the grapes picked and vinified separately before being racked straight to barrel for 6 months to undergo malolactic fermentation. The wines are then racked and blended together, and the final wine moved back into barrel for 12 months of maturation in 70% new French oak.

This wine has both red and dark fruit characters, with a touch of dried herbs. The palate is structured, with high, yet elegant, tannins and acidity, and is packed with fresh red cherry and blackcurrant fruit.
