Laphroaig 30yo Ian Hunter Limited Edition Whisky Book 1 75cl
This limited edition is the first release in The Ian Hunter Story, a fifteen part series of rare aged single malt whiskies from Laphroaig. Celebrating the last member of the Johnston family to own and manage the distillery, this expression has been aged for three decades in first fill American white oak bourbon barrels – the very maturation method introduced by Hunter himself in the early 20th century. Bottled at 46.7% abv, only 4,800 bottles of this 30-year-old have been produced, each one presented in a handsome book-style presentation case featuring the first chapter in Hunter's life story.
The 2019 release of Laphroaig's Ian Hunter series is a creamy, smooth 30-year-old single malt, filled with Laphroaig's characteristic peatiness. Matured exclusively in American white oak barrels, this Islay whisky celebrates the legacy of Ian Hunter, the last member of the Johnston family to own and manage Laphroaig distillery. Sweet aromas of manuka honey, light peat smoke, cooked apple, rosemary and vanilla mingle with lemon peel and orgeat on the nose. The palate offers notes of black pepper, garden herbs, cedar wood, kumquat, rich peat smoke and gorse flowers, before developing a sweet note of custard creams and vanilla pods.
