Game of Thrones Whisky Collection 8x70cl
To celebrate the eighth and final season of the critically-acclaimed TV series, Game of Thrones, Diageo and HBO have released a limited-edition collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. The collection features eight scotch whiskies, each paired with one of the iconic Houses of Westeros, as well as the Night’s Watch, giving fans an authentic taste of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
Game of Thrones House Tully - Singleton Glendulan Reserve Whisky 70cl: Aged in ex-bourbon casks, this single malt has a light straw shimmer and a heady opening of Madagascan vanilla on the nose, followed by hints of clove spice. On the palate the initial drive is fresh green apples, then the clove flavour from the nose is there, but accompanied by warm cinnamon notes. The finish slips into a red berry flavour with vanilla and a hint of cherry bakewell.
Game of Thrones The Nights Watch - Oban Bay Reserve Whisky 70cl: On the nose this Oban has aromas of hay and tangy savoury aromas, but calms into cocoa and Morello cherries. On the palate there are instant flavours of dark berry pie and liquorice. Toasted oak joins the fray, and citrus and cloves add a lighter touch. The finish brings back those cherries and dark fruits, alongside a hint of savoury. Game of Thrones House Lannister - Lagavulin 9 Year Old Whisky 70cl: Lagavulin 9 Year Old is a roaring single malt that leaves an intensely smoky flavour in every sip. The golden liquid recalls the Lannisters’ riches and comes from being exclusively matured in first fill ex-Bourbon casks. The nose is characteristic of Lagavulin and bursts with sweet smoke, with a slightly zestier, maritime scent than other expressions. On the palate it opens with smoky, caramelised banana, burnt marshmallow and vanilla, fading into a salted caramel finish.
Game of Thrones House Baratheon - Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old Whisky 70cl: A light amber colour of this single malt echoes the light and delicate aromas of this 12-year-old Royal Lochnagar. It starts with gentle oak aromas that develop into sweeter caramel tones with a fruity edge. When you taste it there are immediate sweet layers of vanilla and liquorice, which blend into a gentle finish of nutmeg and sweet pastries.
Game of Thrones House Targaryen - Cardhu Gold Reserve Whisky 70cl: The whisky's rich golden colour is accompanied by soft honey aromas with just a hint of toasted oak. Take a sip and you’re greeted by apple pie flavours, sweet baked fruit and buttery cinnamon, which quickly develop into a rich caramel with clove and malty biscuit flavours mixed throughout.
Game of Thrones House Stark - Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost Whisky 70cl: Aged in ex-bourbon casks, this light gold single malt gently opens to flavours of honeyed figs and delicious malt balls, finishing with rich fruitcake sweetness. Like House Stark, Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost is loyal to the flavour profile that the distillery is known for, and not only survives the cold of winter, but uses it to its advantage.
Game of Thrones House Tyrell - Clynelish Reserve Whisky 70cl: This light-gold Scotch initially offers fresh fruit flavours - such as mango and pineapple - before slipping into rich, sweet vanilla notes. It finishes with sweet, maritime notes that mingle with the light floral flavours which warm and build throughout, leaving the signature sweet Clynelish waxiness behind.
Game of Thrones House Greyjoy - Talisker Select Reserve Whisky 70cl: Golden copper in colour, this Talisker is aged in heavily charred, ex-bourbon American oak casks for a truly unique character. The nose is typical of the distillery, with dry peppery smoke and dark chocolate tones. The palate explodes with flavours of salted caramel and chili flakes, with a subtle background of peppery smoke. The long finish brings sweet fruitcake notes and a lasting hint of heather.
