Chateau Angludet Margaux 2018 75cl 13.5% ABV
Chateau Angludet Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Chateau Angludet has been owned by the Sichel family since 1961. This Chateau would almost certainly have been part of the 1855 Classification had the property not been broken up as part of an inheritance settlement. The team there today, led by Benjamin Sichel, focus heavily on restricted yields and a balance of blending from their 32 hectares of vineyard. They have a reputation for elegance, finesse and exceptional ageing potential.
This Margaux is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, grown on a mix of gravel and sandy soils. Traditional fermentation is carried out in cement vats, prior to 12 months maturation in French oak, of which a third is new. There is then a strict selection process to decide which wines are of high enough quality to go into this, their Grand Vin.
Chateau Angludet Margaux has intense cassis and blackberry aromas, supported by rich, yet velvety tannins, delicate acidity and gentle spice on the finish. Ready to drink, but would benefit from a further ten years in bottle.
